For the after thought...
El Poncho Ecocenter was built by hand. The ecocenter is built with natural materials and has a rustic look. We have equipped all our cabins with very good spring mattresses and natural furniture. Students will share cabins, but if there is anyone with the special need of being in a single cabin, we have 4 small cabins with a private outside bathroom that students can apply for. To have a single cabin has an extra cost.
Students coming to El Poncho must know that the ecocenter faces challenges sometimes. We encourage students to save water, since we get water from the Marquina village, and water is a resource we do not like to waste. This does not mean that we lack water, but the wasting of water at the center prevents other families from having this resource available. The whole idea of studying at an ecological center, is to become more ecologically aware and take responsibility for our ecological footprint.
The center has an organic vegetable garden. Not all vegetables come from this garden, but we have good quality in our food. Our chef prepares all meals and students will enjoy healthy and delicious food at El Poncho.
Since the whole center is built with natural materials, it is not allowed to smoke or use candles inside the cabins or in any building.
The swimming pool is chlorine free, and the center uses outgoing water for irrigation of plants and trees.
The ecocenter provides students with additional services such as sweat lodge (Indigenous sauna) and 1-2 person outdoor hot tubs for those who wish to have a cozy time watching the enormous Bolivian sky.

El Poncho offers only 25 student vacancies for now, but we are starting the second phase to be able to receive never more than 50 students at any time.
